  • 1. What are the benefits of POA membership?

In addition to discounted fees for POA course and conferences, members are able to access additional resources to support their clinical practice including national guidelines and standards for practice in preoperative care.

  • 2. How are POA guidelines and standards developed?

Guidelines and standards are developed, peer-reviewed and agreed with input from a wide-range of clinicians with expertise in UK preoperative assessment and optimisation. These are not intended to be prescriptive but support services and clinicians to deliver preoperative care in their specific local context.

  • 3. How are the POA council appointed and can I get involved?

The council aims to represent a wide range of healthcare professionals involved in provision of preoperative assessment and optimisation. Members include clinicians from a wide range of professional backgrounds, clinical practice and regions of the UK.

We would welcome expressions of interest from anyone interested in joining the council and advertise specifically for new members as council members step down from their roles.
