Consultant Anaesthetist at Gloucester Royal Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Henry qualified from Bart’s and the Royal London Medical School (Queens Mary’s) in 2003.

 

He completed his anaesthetic training within Bristol School of Anaesthesia in 2013. He was appointed as consultant anaesthetist for Gloucestershire Hospitals in 2014 with a specialist interest in Pre-operative assessment.

 

In 2015, he established a dedicated preoperative anaemia screening and treatment service for all high-risk surgical cases.

 

As principle investigator for the PREVENTT study, SNAP3 and PQIP he has raised the profile of research within the pre-op assessment service.

 

As clinical lead for the Pre-op assessment clinic, POAC (2016-2022) he oversaw significant service expansion and standardization, incorporating all surgical specialties whilst centralizing onto a single site with satellite clinics.

 

Henry also established a video appointment service, ECHO screening clinic and has been involved in the implementation of electronic patient records within POAC.

 

He was a member of the team who won the BMJ award for Anaesthesia and Perioperative team of the year 2021.

 

He is currently Specialty Director for Theatres (2022-to date) overseeing COVID recovery, theatre transformation and patient flow from POAC to post-op recovery.
